Graduated in Philosophy (of Science), I travelled around the world with a backpack and visited the holiest places of major religions, past and present, from Morocco to Mexico. Back in Europe I developed a growing interest in the late Stone Age and visited many megalithic places in my own country, Netherlands (still over 50 ‘hunebedden’), and in the British Isles. I once slept alone in an untouched 5000 year old, and bone dry , megalithic chamber in Ireland. I probably won’t do it again (but I did); and the Stone Age never left me and has come ever nearer. The stay in the chamber twice has had a decisive impact on how I view megalithic chambers and their makers; it may be the reason that I have a rather different approach to their primal and overall function than any of the professional archaeologists, or any one else, I have read.
This site sets out my alternative interpretation of the use of the chambers and the circles, with ample video coverage of the main sites, see Youtube Goudryan, and with arguments and pictograms to show the simple mathematics, which everyone with basic education can understand; just as Stone Age people did.
Since over 25 years I work on this simple natural number logic which results in a geometry fully based on the first six prime numbers (2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13). Because I, as a layman, could find this geometric number logic, I know that others could do so as well. This is what makes me convinced that late Stone Age man, as a keen astronomer and circle setter, could find this model, and did so. I have gathered ample evidence now that, indeed, they became aware of these peculiar whole number ratios and used them in their designs for megalithic settings, cuttings and buildings. It is moreover the intricacies of their work that has thrown an amazing new light on the mathematical model I have already cherished for so long.
Before I came to Orkney I had proven, and later got confirmed ( Flinders Petrie, Lauer), that the Great Pyramid (megaliths!) was based on these number ratios and geometries(11:7 & 10:9); in Orkney I found, to my great surprise, but also puzzlement, the same ratios, and even the same units of length as Egypt in the major megalithic works from probably hundreds of years earlier. How was this possible? This is one enigma, among many, this site is about. Another welcome surprise is the mathematical proof of Alexander Thom’s megalithic yard (MY) and how it perfectly relates to the megalithic ell (ME), which I uncovered unawares.
I am quite sure that in this mathematical model I have unearthed the keys to Stone Age mathematics and expect this to cast a new light on the enigmatic culture that the European Megalithicum is to this day. I think it will prove a major contribution to archaeology, but also to other sciences. This is in the order of deciphering the hieroglyphs (Rosetta Stone), if not even more far reaching, because the model goes beyond antiquity and touches the core of modern physics, which I will explain in due course.
Six years ago I came to Orkney and already in the first few months I made a change of heart and ideas regarding the Atlantic Megalithicum, on which I have been working eversince. I live here and share my views with the Orcadians, which was the initial reason for this site. Now it is aimed at a wider public and getting really serious, I am even lecturing on this now, so, beware, this is different stuff and may, for some professionals or other experts, be hard to digest.
